Getting sacked because of that scheming flatterer felt like the end—until fate handed me the most unexpected gift. I found real love.
It started with something small, insignificant at first glance, but it turned my life upside down. I used to work in logistics for a big London firm, and though Alina and I weren’t close colleagues, she always seemed to hover nearby. From day one, there was something off about her—too many “accidental” run-ins by the kettle, forced laughter at every little thing. At first, I thought she was just chatty. Then I realised: she was plotting something. I kept my distance, stayed polite. Until that day by the coffee machine when she planted a kiss on my cheek. “For luck,” she whispered, eyes locked on mine. It made my skin crawl. Instinctively, I pushed her away—too roughly—and she stumbled. She never forgave me.
I thought it’d blow over. But the next day, whispers started. Sideways glances. Then the call from the director. No explanations, no chance to defend myself—just “gross misconduct,” “inappropriate behaviour,” “harassment.” My protests meant nothing. “You can take it to court,” he said, “but good luck proving it.” My reputation was ruined overnight. No one in the industry would touch me. It wasn’t just betrayal; it was sabotage.
I refused to wallow. One evening, on the balcony of my rented flat in Manchester, I scribbled a list of things I’d always wanted to do. One stood out: learn to dance. Salsa, bachata—why not? I signed up for a class. The course was affordable, and I needed to feel alive again.
From the first lesson, I knew I’d made the right choice. But what caught me off guard was the instructor—Eve. Not classically beautiful, but radiant, magnetic. No flirting, just warmth and confidence. I fell for her instantly. Not out of desperation or loneliness—just this sudden, certain knowing: *She’s the one.*
I didn’t dare say anything. Then, after class, she asked me out for coffee. We talked for hours. And just like that, it was love—proper, movie-worthy love. Eve admitted she’d felt it too but was afraid to act. Now we’re together, planning our own dance studio. She’s pregnant with our first child.
That woman didn’t just pull me out of the dark—she gave me a whole new life. And if Alina hadn’t kissed me, if I hadn’t been sacked, I’d never have walked into that studio. Never have found Eve. Sometimes fate tears your world apart just to hand you something real.
